What is CAT6?

Category 6 is commonly referred to as CAT6. Category 6 cable provides performance up to 250 MHz.  This is more than double the standard for Category 5 cable and Category 5e cable. It is the cable standard for Gigabit Ethernet. Category 6 cable compares to earlier copper standards by containing four twisted copper wire pairs.
