With the purchase of our new home, we decided that we no longer needed a stereo cabinet. Instead, we had built ins added to our family room around the fireplace. They were a nice focal point when you entered the family room. The built ins framed the fireplace and made it even more of a central gathering place in our home. The cd player easily rested on a shelf that was used to residing in a stereo cabinet. The cds that were housed there too, found a space along with the player.
