A flash drive, rather than use conventional spinning platters to store data, is a storage device that uses flash memory. It is related to a solid state drive. A flash drive may act as a replacement for hard drives. Even though there are limited consumer electronics with flash drives instead of hard drives, it should become the trend that as the cost of flash drives decreases flash drives will replace the conventional hard drives.
