I would like to purchase an area rug for the space under our kitchen nook eating set. I think that area rugs pulls together that space and makes defines it as its own space, even though it is shared with the kitchen. The table and chairs look nice resting on top of an area rug. The area rug needs to be on the darker side, definately not light colored. Any spills of food or beverages would show to easily on a light colored area rug.
